Chemistry Blossoms Between Partners
A Teesside chemical company has turned charity giving into a bit of a science, becoming a Corporate Partner with the Butterwick Hospice in Stockton.
Lotte Chemical UK Ltd of Wilton Site near Redcar has already supported a number of local charities, and has now committed to sponsoring the hospice.
HR Director, Stephen Trillo, said: ‘Our owners Lotte are a South Korean family owned conglomeration that is firmly committed to supporting the communities in which it works.
‘We support this ethos by being very community and family minded, a major supporter of apprenticeships and we have built strong links with colleges, schools, neighborouring communities and local causes.
‘We have a social committee that works hard to organise events for our staff and families and they identify local causes to support.
‘We decided that Butterwick is a great example of an organisation that is exists to support people throughout the community. We are delighted to be associated with them and to support them by becoming a Corporate Partner.’
Donations from Lotte last year included the Great North Air Ambulance, the Redcar and Zetland Fun Park day, funds for local people, Paul Duffy and Rebecca Tierney, a donation to the Ladies of Steel for their annual Fireworks display for the children of Dormanstown, a donation in support of a local company carrying out the Kalahari Dessert Challenge in aid of funds for Zoes Place Baby Hospice and Butterwick, and a donation for a new flag pole in the garden of remembrance in Redcar as well as working closely with colleges and schools to support educational activities.
They also currently sponsor 22 apprentices.
Mr Trillo said: ‘We see the sponsorship of Butterwick as building on our support of the community and as a partnership for the long term. Butterwick also do other things through out the year that will enable us to have close links and support them via other activities that our employess can become involved in. Truly a two way partnership.’
Anne Cooling, Butterwick Hospice’s Corporate Partnership Manager, said: ‘We are delighted that Lotte Chemical has come on board as a Corporate Partner. It already does some fantastic work in the community and to have them as a partner is great for us.’
